Scanly is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Everything stays on your device.

01What We Collect

Nothing. Scanly does not collect any personal information about you.

We do not collect:

  • Names, email addresses, or account information
  • QR code contents or scan history
  • Device identifiers or advertising IDs
  • Usage data, crash reports, or diagnostics sent to us
  • Location data

02Local Storage

Scanly stores your scan history locally on your device only. This data:

  • Never leaves your device
  • Is never uploaded to any server
  • Is deleted when you delete the app
  • Can be exported manually by you if you have Pro

No cloud sync. No backup to any Scanly-controlled server.

03Camera Permission

Scanly requests camera access solely to scan QR codes in real time. Camera frames are processed entirely on-device by system APIs (AVFoundation on iOS, ML Kit on Android). No camera data is stored, transmitted, or shared.

04In-App Purchases

The Scanly Pro upgrade ($2.99, one-time) is processed entirely by Apple App Store or Google Play. We never see, receive, or store your payment details — all billing is handled by the platform you purchase through.

To restore a purchase, use the "Restore Purchases" option in the app. No account is needed.

05Analytics & Third-Party SDKs

Scanly contains:

  • No analytics SDKs (no Firebase, no Amplitude, no Mixpanel)
  • No advertising SDKs
  • No crash reporting services (no Crashlytics, no Sentry)
  • No social login or third-party authentication

The only third-party code in the app is open-source libraries for QR scanning (ML Kit on Android, AVFoundation on iOS) — which process data entirely on-device.

06Children's Privacy

Scanly does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13 (or equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). Because we collect no data at all, Scanly is safe for users of all ages.

07Changes to This Policy

If we ever change this privacy policy, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date. Because we collect no data, changes to this policy cannot affect any data we hold — we hold none.

We encourage you to check this page periodically, though we do not anticipate significant changes to our no-collection approach.
